Iowa Hay Barn is a sepia tone photographic wall art print of an old barn located in the Amana Colonies. I was on a photo shoot of farms around the Amana Colonies in Eastern Iowa. The timeframe was the middle of a February that hadn’t produced much snow. With little or no snow on the ground, the scenery takes on a barren look, which the sepia tone highlights. I love the look of this old hay barn which is still being used. (Click on the picture for a larger image)
I used a sepia tone finish on the photograph for that old rustic look. The sepia brown tones originated with film photography as part of the process to develop the prints in the 1800’s. Today, we can recreate that same vintage look digitally. This type of wall art print lends itself to a rustic or old vintage type of interior decoration. Even with that said, I have seen this style used in more modern decor that had earth tone elements to it. The way a print is matted and framed can change the entire look of the print.
Your printed version of this art print will not have the, " Kirt Tisdale/TheWallGallery" watermark. The prints are done individually using a giclee technique (Giclee: a technology for fine art or photograph reproduction using a high-quality inkjet printer to make individual copies). The printer is the Epson Stylus wide-format using Epson UltraChrome K3 Ink. They are printed on Epson Premium Glossy Photo Paper. The paper is 10 ml in thickness, with 97% opacity and a 92 ISO brightness rating. The print is then hand cut and depending on size packaged in either a firm oversized mailing envelope or a mailing tube for protection.
